66 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION GRANTING A USE PERMIT TO REVEREND ROBERT G. THOMPSON <br />OF THE PORTSMOUTH BAPTIST ASSOCIATION TO OPERATE A PLACE OF <br />WORSHIP AT 636 HIGH STREET. <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, Annette M. Preddy, by Goodman-Segar-Hogan, Agent, <br />on behalf of Reverend Robert G. Thompson of the Portsmouth <br />Baptist Association, made application pursuant to Section 40-72(b} <br />of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, as amended, <br />for the granting of a use permit as hereinafter-described; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the applicant and the Planning Director have done <br />all things r~quired to be done in connection with said appli- <br />cation; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has recommended the grant- <br />ing of said use permit. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> (1) That the use for which the use permit hereinafter is <br />sought: <br /> <br /> (a) Will not adversely affect the health and safety <br />of persons residing or working in the neighborhood of the pro- <br />posed use; <br /> <br /> (b) Will not be detrimental to the public use or in- <br />jurious to the property or improvements in the neighborhood; and <br /> <br /> (c) Will be in accord with the purposes of the Zoning <br />Chapter of the City of Code. <br /> <br /> (2) Reverend Robert G. Thompson of the Portsmouth Baptist <br />Association is hereby granted a use permit pursuant to Section <br />40-72(b) of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Uirginia to operate <br />a house of worship at the property described as follows: <br /> <br /> Beginning on the north side of High Street and <br />west 25', more or less, from its intersection with <br />Green Street; thence north 85'; thence east 45', more <br />or less; thence south 85' to the north right-of-way <br />of High Street; thence west along said right-of-way <br />45', more or less, to the point of origin. <br /> <br /> <br />
