WHEREAS, as a result of said meetings, the Department <br />of Housing and Urban Development has agreed to the utilization <br />of the Section 8 Existing Housing Assistance Payments Program <br />as a means to provide housing assistance for persons of low <br />and moderate income in the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is the judgment of this Council that the <br />Implementation of the Section 8 Existing Housing Assistance <br />payments Program is at the present time the best alternative <br />available to the City. <br /> <br /> ~OWi THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED that the City Manager is <br />authorized to do all things necessary and execute any and <br />all documents so as to amend the current contract with the <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development so as to enable <br />the City to i'~plement other means of providing low income <br />housing in non-impacted areas of the City, including the use <br />of the Section. 8 Existing HoUsing Assistance Payments Programf <br />and that the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br />is requested to provide such assistance to the City Manager <br />in these matters to the extent deemed appropriate. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held July 28, 1981. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
