53 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO RELEASE AN <br />EASEMENT FOR PUBLIC UTILITIES IN A PORTION OP FORMER GRIFFIN <br />STREET. <br /> <br /> WHEREASf by ordinances adopted by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia~ on September 11, 1973 and <br />August 23, 1977, portions of Griffin Street extending from <br />the south side of the Crawford Connector to the northern <br />boundary of the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad Company right- <br />of-way were Closed; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by the terms of said ordinances, the City of <br />Portsmouth retained an easement in said former Griffin <br />Street for the purpose of operating and maintaining public <br />utilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said public utilities have been relocated in <br />connection with the development of property on the east side <br />of Fifth Street by Virginia Products Corporation and the <br />proposed development of property on the west side of Fifth <br />Street by Crawford Parkway Associates; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City no longer has a requirement for said <br />utility easement and the same is hereby declared to be <br />surplus. <br /> <br /> N~, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and <br />he hereby is, authorized to release said public utility <br />easementS in that portion of former Griffin Street extending <br />in a southeasterly direction from the southern boundary of <br />the Crawford Connector to the northern boundary of the <br />Seaboard Coast Line Railroad Company right-of-way- <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he <br />hereby is, authorized to execute such deed of release as may <br />be necessary to accomplish the purpose of this resolution. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held July 14, 1981. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
