3O <br /> <br />' /~i x~i~A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE SCHOOL BOARD OF THE CITY OF <br /> .~PORTSMOUTH TO'.ENDEAVOR TO INCREASE CLASSROOM TEACHER <br /> SALARIES BY TEN PERCENT AND REQUESTING THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY <br /> STATE AID FOR EDUCATION TO ASSURE <br /> FULL FUNDING~'0FTHESTATE POLICY FOR INCREASED CLASSROOM <br /> <br />the 1982-83 biennial budget 'for <br /> the 1982 session of the General <br /> that "each locality shall endeavor <br /> salaries by ten'percent each <br /> <br />and <br /> <br /> statement of policy, the increase <br /> ,in State ing for ~ducation did not provide ample State <br /> funds to assure a ten percent increase in classroom teacher <br /> salaries; and ~ i.~ ~ . ~. <br /> ''~-"~:~'ince '1970, the percent of the total school <br /> system budget provided by the City of Por~tsmo~th has increased <br />~from twenty-nine percent to a proposed thirty-seven percent <br /> for FY-82-83; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, s~nce 1978, the City's share of the School Board <br /> Budget has increased 6.5 million dollars while the State's <br /> contribution has increased 5.7 million dollars; and <br /> <br /> WHF~RFd~S, the Council of the City of Portsmouth has on <br /> this date provided an additional $300,000. to the City Manager's <br /> recommended School Bo.a~. ~ ~Budget allocation of $38,227,056; and <br /> ~ ~!~..~ ..... ~, ? i. ~, ,~ .~.~¢x?, ,. <br /> ~.~'?"
