69 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION SALUTINGTHE CITY OF NORFOLK ON ITS 300 YEAR <br />ANNIVERSAkRY CELEBRATION~' <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the year 1982 marks the tricentennial celebration <br />of the fm~nding of the City of Norfolk, Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEP~AS, Sunday, August 15, 1982, has been designated as <br />the official day of celebration and festivities for the 3OOth <br />birthday party; and <br /> <br /> WHE~JtS, the cities of Norfolk and Portsmouth have shared <br />a rich and warm heritage in relationship as neighbors on the <br />Elizabeth River; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the cities of Norfolk and Portsmouth look forward <br />to continued growth and development based on the foundations of <br />progress established over the past 300 years. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED bylthe Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that said Council does hereby salute <br />the City of Norfolk on the celebration of its 300th anniversary, <br />and does hereby extend its best wishes to the City and its <br />citizens for continued prosperity in the future. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor be, and he hereby <br />is, instructed to present a copy of this Resolution to the <br />Mayor of the City of Norfolk. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, ¥1rglnl , <br />at a meeting held August 10, 1982. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
