54 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE T~-~LAT THE ~4AYOR AND I4EMBERS OF <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, SHALL BE <br />INCLUDED AS F2~[PLOYEES OF THE CITY PURSUANT TO THE TER~4S <br />OF THE VIRGINIA WO_?~ERS' CO~PENSAT!ON ACT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 65.!-4~ Code of Virginia, 1950, <br />as amended by the 1983 General Assembly, provides that <br />the governing body of the City may, by resolution duly <br />adopted, elect to have its ~m~ers included as employees <br />under the Virginia Workers' Compensation Act; and <br /> <br /> WHERF~S, the Council of the City of Portsmouth deems <br />it appropriate that the benefits of the Virginia Workers' <br />Compensation Act be extended to the Mayor and Members of <br />Council pursuant to the term.._s and conditions of said <br />Virginia Workers' Compensation Act. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that fmom and after the date <br />of the adoption of this resolution the Mayor and Members <br />of Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, shall be <br />included as e~LDloyees of the City pursuant to the terms <br />and conditions of the Virginia Workers' Compensation Act. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held July 26, 1983. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />city Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
