A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY CITY <br />O~ED PROPERTY TO THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY <br />(LEE AVENUE AND INDUSTRIAL AVENUE). <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ the City of Portsmouth owns certain hereinafter- <br />described property in the vicinity of the Port area bounded on <br />the west by Lee Avenue and on the east by Industrial Avenue; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Industrial Development Authority has received <br />a proposal from C. E. Willett to develop said property for <br />Port related business; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, <br />of Portsmouth <br />to be surplus; <br /> <br />said property is no longer needed by the City <br />for municipal purposes and is, hereby, declared <br />and <br /> <br /> ~E~REAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best <br />interest of the City that said property be developed for Port <br />related business activities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the value of said property has been established <br />to be $18,260; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the proposed developer has agreed to screen the <br />property by using a suitable fence that would prevent viewing <br />of trucks and containers stored on the property from the public <br />streets and to construct the fence in accordance with the City <br />of Portsmouth's setback requirements for such property. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Cit~ <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, 'and he hereby <br />is, authorized to convey to the Industrial Development Authority <br />of the City of Portsmouth the following described property, <br /> <br />PARCEL <br /> <br /> All that certain piece or parcel of land situate <br />in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, bounded and de- <br />scribed as follows: <br /> <br /> BEGINNING at the southeast intersection of Lee <br />Avenue and Detroit Street and thence south along the <br />eastern boundary of Lee Avenue 100 feet to the True <br />Point of Beginning; thence continuing south along <br />the eastern boundary of Lee Avenue 125 feet to the <br />intersection of Lee Avenue and an unnamed street; <br />thence easterly along the northern boundary of said <br />unnamed street 100 feet to a point; thence north and <br />parallel with Lee Avenue 125 feet to a point; thence <br />west and parallel with Detroit Street 100 feet to the <br />Point of Beginning. <br /> <br />to-wit: <br /> <br /> <br />
