68 A RES(~LUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR CLOSING A PORTION OF POWHATAN AVENUE. WHEREAS, Darrell F. and Beverley G. Nuckles and David A. and Mary Ann S. Mitchell, have made application to vacate, close, and discontinue the hereinafter- described portion of Powhatan Avenue, and it appearing that notice of application and request for the appointment of viewers was duly advertised as required by law. NOW, THEREFORE, 8E IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that A. N. Kindrick, Simon P. Arrington, Richard D. Ottavio, Fames V. McGhee and Raymond Tweed be appointed viewers, and that R. E. B. Stewart and James Moss be appointed alternate viewers in the event one of the preceeding viewers fails to participate, said viewers to view the hereinafter- described portion of such street and to report to this Council in writing whether in their opinion any, and if any, what inconvenience would result in vacating and closing the following: POWHATAN AVENUE BEGINNING at a point on the eastern right of way of Powhatan Avenue, 64', more or less from the northeast intersection of Westmoreland Avenue with Powhatan Avenue and continuing in a northerly direction along the eastern ri§ht of way of Powhatan Avenue to the lower water mark of the Western Branch of the Elizabeth River; thence in a westerly direction along the low water mark of the Western Branch of the Elizabeth River to the western side of the right of way of Powhatan Avenue; and continuing thence in a southerly direction along the western right of way of Powhatan Avenue to a street light; and thence in a northerly direction and at right angles to the right of way of Powhatan Avenue across the right of way of Powhatan Avenue to the point of beginning. Said section of street to which closure is requested is adjacent to Parcel 380-0070 of the Tax Maps of the City of Portsmouth.
