A RESOLUTION APPROVING LOCATION AND MAJOR DESIGN FEATURES OF THE WESTERN FREEWAY PROJECT; REQUESTING THE VIRGINIA DEPART~IENT OF HIGHWAYS AND TRANSPORTATION TO ACQUIRE RIGHTS- OF-WAY. WHEREAS, a public hearing was conducted on September 19, 1984, in the City of Portsmouth by representatives of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Highways and Trans- portation after due and proper notice for the purpose of considering the proposed location and design o~ the Western Freeway Project: 0164-124-1D2, C-503, C-504, C-505 in the City of Portsmouth at which hearing aerial photographs, drawings and other pertinent information were made available for public inspection in accordance with State and Federal requirements; and WHEREAS, all persons and parties in attendance were afforded full opportunity to participate in said public hearing; and WHEREAS, representatives of the City of Portsmouth were present and participated in said hearing; and WHEREAS, Department of project; and the Council had previously requested the Virginia Highways and Transportation to program this WHEREAS, the Council considered all such matters; and NOW, THEREFQRE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Portsmouth hereby approves the location and major design features of the proposed project as presented at the public hearing with the exception that Coast Guard Boule- vard be relocated to tie in with West Norfolk Road just east of the existing intersection of Coast Guard Boulevard and West Norfolk Road. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Portsmouth requests the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation to acquire all rights-of-way necessary for this project conveying this right-of-way to the City of Portsmouth at the appropriate times.
