56 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DESIGNATION OF A PORTION OF CITY <br />PARK ROAD AS A SCENIC HIGHWAY OR BYWAY IN CONNECTION WITH <br />RECREATIONAL USE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has obtained a <br />commitment from the Department of Highways & Transportation <br />for funding for the reconstruction of a portion of City Park <br />Road; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 33.1-223, Code of Virginia, provides <br />that after construction such road shall be designated as a <br />scenic highway or byway in connection with recreational use; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a public hearing has been conducted by the <br />Planning Commission of the City of Portsmouth and by the <br />Council of the City of Portsmouth concerning the issue of <br />designation of a portion of City Park Road as a scenic <br />highway or byway in connection with recreational use. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that request is hereby made of <br />the Virginia Department of Highways & Transportation for <br />designation of the hereinafter described portion of City <br />Park Road as a scenic highway or byway in connection with <br />recreational use as provided by law: <br /> <br />~it¥ Park Road <br /> <br /> That portion of City Park Road <br />extending north from Park Manor Drive for a <br />distance of 0.48 miles and being designated <br />as Project 9999-124-104 by the Virginia <br />Department of Highways & Transportation. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held June 11, 1985. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
