A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CLEAN COMMUNITY PROGRAM OF THE <br />PORTSMOUTH BEAUTIFICATION AND CLEAN COMMUNITY COMMISSION; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR <br />FUNDING. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia has created the Beautification and Clean Community <br />Commission to assist with litter control through <br />educational and beautification programs including all <br />segments of the population of the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Litter Control Act of 1976 <br />provides, through the Department of Conservation and <br />Economic Development, Division of Litter Control, for the <br />allocation of public funds in the form of grants for the <br />purpose of enhancing local litter control programs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth is eligible to submit <br />a grant application for funding for 1985 pursuant to the <br />regulations governing the administration and 6se of such <br />funds, and has reviewed and considered the regulations and <br />applicatlQn covering administration and use of said funds. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia that the Council does hereby <br />endorse the Clean Community Program of the Beautification <br />and Clean Community Commission for the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth authorizes the City Manager to plan, budget and <br />apply.for a Grant which, if approved~ will be used to fund <br />said program and hereby requests the Department of <br />Conservation and Economic Development, Division of Litter <br />Control, to consider and approve the application and <br />program, said program being in accord with the regulations <br />governing the use and expenditure of such funds. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia at a meeting held May 28, 1985. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
