AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTION 6-8 THEREOF [118.51 AND <br />118.12 PERTAINING TO FEES FOR DEMOLITION AND SEWER CONNECTIONS. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that Section 6-8 (118.51 and 118.12 (a), (b) and (c)) <br />of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 118.51. Fees for demolition. <br /> <br /> (1) For the demolition of any residential accessory <br />building, the fee shall be five dollars ($5.00). <br /> <br /> (2) For one and two family residences, the fee shall <br />be ten dollars ($10.00). <br /> <br /> (3) For all other buildings or structures, the fee <br />shall be twenty dollars ($20.00). <br /> <br /> The person obtaining a demolition permit shall be <br />responsible for sealing the building or structure's sanitary <br />sewer lateral at the property line or clean out. Such seal shall <br />be constructed with three thousand (3,000) PSI (minimum) <br />compression strength concrete in accordance with the Department <br />of Public Utility standards. A fee of twenty-five dollars <br />(S25.00) shall be paid for inspection of the seal by the City. <br />The seal shall not be covered until inspected and approved. The <br />responsibility for safeguarding the excavation made for sealing <br />the lateral until inspected and for adequately back filling such <br />excavation after inspection and acceptance shall be borne by the <br />demolition permit holder. The person obtaining a demolition <br />permit may elect to have the City seal the building or <br />structure's sanitary sewer lateral at a cost of one hundred <br />dollars ($100.00). If such election is made and the one hundred <br />dollar ($100.00) fee is paid, the twenty-five dollar ($25.00) <br />sanitary sewer lateral sealing inspection fee will be waived. <br /> <br />Section 118.12.
