AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 21 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, AS AM_ENDED, BY A~iENDING SECTION <br />21-98 THEREOF, PERTAINING TO THE OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 21-98 of Chapter 21 of the Code of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended and re- <br />ordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 21-98. Obstructing justice by threats or force. <br /> <br /> (A) If any person, by threats, or force, knowingly <br />attempts to intimidate or impede a judge, magistrate, <br />justice, juror, witness, or any law-enforcement officer, <br />lawfully engaged in his duties as such, or to obstruct or <br />impede the administration of justice in any court, he shall <br />be deemed to be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. <br /> <br /> (B) The provisions of the preceding paragraph shall <br />not apply to such conduct relating to a violation of or <br />conspiracy to violate ~18.2-248 or 18.2-248.1 (a3), (b) or <br />(c) of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. <br /> <br /> 2.
