section, subject to the terms and conditions of this section and <br />subject to the engine6ring and construction standards and zoning <br />requirements in effect at the time that each remaining section <br />is recorded. <br /> <br />Section 33-55. Utility and street improvements. <br /> <br /> In subdivisions, or parts of subdivisions, situated within <br />the city, improvements shall be provided as follows: <br /> <br /> (a) Streets shall be graded to the full width and in <br />conformance to the approved cross sections and profiles and <br />shall be surfaced as set forth below. <br /> <br /> (b) The pavement base and surface of streets shall be <br />appropriate to the type of development and type of use <br />contemplated and shall be installed in accordance with standards <br />and specifications of the city. The thickness of base and <br />pavement shall be determined by actual soil bearing tests of the <br />California Bearing Ratio type or equal (performed at the expense <br />of the subdivider by an approved testing laboratory at locations <br />specified by the city engineer), and by anticipated traffic <br />loading methods as developed by The Asphalt Institute or the <br />Portland Cement Association. <br /> <br /> (c) A drainage system shall be provided to insure adequate <br />drainage of both natural and storm water. The system shall be <br />constructed and installed in accordance with plans and <br />specifications approved by the city engineer. <br /> <br /> (d) Curbs and gutters, or valley gutters shall be <br />installed in accordance with the plans and s~ecifications <br />approved by the city engineer. <br /> <br /> (e) Water lines shall be installed by the subdivider <br />accordance with plans and specifications approved by the <br />director of public utilities. <br /> <br /> (f) Sanitary sewerage shall be installed by the subdivider <br />in accordance with plans and specifications approved by the <br />director of public utilities. <br /> <br /> (g) Sidewalks, at least five (5) feet in width, shall be <br />installed on both sides of all external and internal collector <br />streets. Sidewalks, at least five (5) feet in width, shall be <br />installed along all street frontage planned for apartments and <br />townhouses. Sidewalks, at least four (4) feet in width, shall <br />be required along both sides of all minor and cul-de-sac <br />streets. Sidewalks shall be installed in accordance with plans <br />and specifications of the city. Commercial or industrial <br />subdivisions may be exempted from the requirements of this <br />section if no substantial pedestrian safety hazard will be <br />created thereby. <br /> <br /> <br />
