1985-84 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 23-501, 23-506, 23-507, <br />23-507.1, AND 23-514 OF CHAPTER 23 THEREOF, PERTAINING TO <br />MOTOR BOATS kND WATERCRAFT. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> 1. That Secticns 23-501, 23-506, 23-507, 23-507.1 and <br />23-514 of Chapter 23 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, 1973, be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 23-501. Waterskiing, surfboarding, etc.- observer <br /> or life preserver required. <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor <br />boat on any of the waters in this City for towing a person <br />or persons on water skis, surfboard or other device unless <br />there is in such motor boat, a person in addition to the <br />operator, in a position .to observe the progress~of the <br />person or persons being towed, or unless the skier or <br />surfboarder wears a life preserver. <br /> <br /> Section 23-506. Operating boats, skis, etc. under influence <br /> of intoxicants prohibited; penalties. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any <br />motor boat o~ ot~er, vessel~ .or manipulate any water skis, <br />surfboard or other similar device on any of the waters in <br />the City while under the influence of intoxicating beverages <br />or under the influence of any narcotic drug, barbiturate, or <br />marijuana. <br /> Any person ~who shall violate any of the provisions of <br /> Section 23-505 or this section shall be guilty of a Class I <br /> misdemeanor. <br /> <br /> Section 23-507. Sunk or abandoned vessels, barges, etc.; <br /> floating timbers, logs, etc. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person voluntarily to sink <br />or abandon or permit or cause to be sunk or abandoned, any <br />vessel, barge, scow or other craft in the waters in the <br />City. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to throw or <br />otherwise dispose of trash, debris, tree laps, logs, or fell <br />timber or make or cause to be made any obstruction which <br /> <br /> <br />
