AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 40 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTION 40-17 <br />THEREOF, AND ADDING THERETO SECTIONS 40-73.1 AND <br />40-135.1 PERTAINING TO RESIDENTIAL R-125 ZONING DISTRICT <br />AND PURPOSE AND DIMENSIONAL REQUIREMENTS THEREOF. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Vir§inla: <br /> ]. That Section 40-17 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended by adding a new <br />zoning district designated Residential R-125 District to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 40-17. Districts and purposes. <br /> In order to implement the intent of this Chapter, <br />the City is hereby divided into twenty (20) classes of <br />districts with the designations and general purposes <br />listed below and the specifically allowed and permitted <br />uses set forth in Article IV, Article V, and Article <br />V.I. <br /> <br /> DISTRICT <br /> <br />Residential R-100 District <br /> <br />PURPOSE <br /> <br />Primarily a district <br />for single family de- <br />tached dwellings on <br />large plots creating <br />an approximate den- <br />sity of 3.5 units per <br />acre and including the <br />customary secondary <br />uses. <br /> <br /> 2. That Chapter 40 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended by adding thereto <br />Sections 40-73.1 and 40-135.1 to read as follows: <br />Section 40-73.1. Residential R-125 district uses. <br /> (a) within the Residential R-125 District, the <br /> following uses are allowed: <br /> <br /> Accessory uses and structures incidental to any <br /> permitted residential use, such as servants' <br /> quarters, garages, greenhouses or workshops, <br /> provided that none shall be rented or occupied <br /> for gain, that no accessory building shall be <br /> inhabited by other than employees of the <br /> <br /> <br />
