46 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CLEAN COM=~UNiTY PROGRA-~ OF THE <br />PORTSMOUTH BEAUTIFICATION AND CLEAN COM~.UNITY COMMISSION; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR <br />FUNDING. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia <br />has created the Beautification and Clean Community Commission <br />to assist with litter control through educational and beauti- <br />fication programs including all segments of the population <br />of the City; and <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, the Virginia Litter Control Act of 1976 provides, <br />through the Department of Conservation and Economic Development, <br />Division of Litter Control, for the allocation of public funds <br />in the form of grants for the purpose of enhancing local litter <br />control programs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth is eligible to submit a <br />grant application for funding for 1984 pursuant to the regulations <br />governing the administration and use of such funds, and has <br />reviewed and considered the regulations and application covering <br />administration and use of said funds. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia that the Council does hereby endorse <br />the Clean Community Program of the Beautification and Clean <br />Community Commission for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth ~uthorizes the City Manager to plan, budget and <br />apply for a Grant whichr if approved, will be used to fund <br />said program and hereby requests the Department of Conservation <br />and Economic Development, Division of Litter Control, to <br />consider and approve the application and program, said program <br />being in accord with the regulations governing the use and <br />expenditure of such funds. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia <br />at ~ meeting held May 22, 1984. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
