21 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQb~STING THE DESIGNATION OF CITY PARK AS A <br />PUBLIC RECP~EATIONAL AREA AND THE APPROVAL OF RECREATIONAL <br />ACCESS ROAD FUNDS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF AN <br />ACCESS ROAD TO CITY PARK. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, City Park is owned and operated by the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia as a'recreational facility for the <br />residents of this City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there exists a proposal for the redevelopment <br />of the facility which will necessitate the need for improved <br />access; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the present procedures governing the allocation <br />of recreational access funds are set forth in ~33.1-223 of <br />the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, and requires joint <br />action by the Commission of Outdoor Recreation and the State <br />Highway and Transportation Commission; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth had duly <br />adopted a Zoning Code pursuant to Article 8, Chapter 11, Title <br />15.1 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended; and <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth hereby requests that the Commission of <br />Outdoor Recreation designates City Park as a public recreational <br />area, and that it further recommends to the State Highway and <br />Transportation Commission that an access road be provided and <br />maintained to such area. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth re~dests the State Highway and Transportation Commiss- <br />ion, pursuant to such recommendation from the Commission of Outdoor <br />Recreation, to declare by resolution that such access road be provided <br />and maintained and that the necessary funds he allocated to in- <br />sure improved access to serve City Park. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia <br />at a meeting held March 13, 1984. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
