120 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXCHANGE OF RROPERTY WITH THE <br />SCHOOL BOARD OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH IN CONNECTION WITH <br />THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW CHURCHLAND ACADEMY ELEMENTARY <br />SCHOOL. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the School Board of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, has determined that construction of the new <br />Churchland Academy Elementary School should be commenced <br />on property adjacent to Churchland Junior High School; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in order to comply with the regulations of <br />the State Department of Education an additional twelve <br />acres of property owned by the City of Portsmouth must be <br />included in the school site; and <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, said City property was originally acquired by <br />grant from the Virginia Department of Conservation and <br />Economic Development, Division of Parks & Recreation, for <br />open space recreational use; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, mn order to make said City property available <br />for school use it wilt be necessary that an equal amount of <br />property be set aside for open space recreation; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the School Board of the City of Portsmouth owns <br />the hereinafter described property adjoining Churchland <br />Park which is suitable for open space recreational purposes. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that it hereby approves the <br />exchange of the hereinafter-described property with the <br />School Board of Portsmouth in Connection with construction <br />of the new Churchland Academy Elementary School: <br /> <br />1. To be conveyed to the City of Portsmouth: <br /> <br /> Ail that certain piece or parcel of property <br />bounded End described as follows: <br /> <br /> BEGINNING at the northwestern property cor- <br />ner of the existing City of Portsmouth School <br />Board property and the eastern right-of-way of <br />Rivershore Road; thence along the northern pro- <br />per=y line of the existing School Board of the <br />City of Portsmouth property South 86016'30'' east, <br />a distance of 1,374.86' to the True Point of Be- <br />ginning; thence north 38o58'60" west, a distance <br />of 530.89'; thence North 3o43'30'' east, a distance <br />of 350.00' to a point; thence North 58o09'57'' <br />eas~t, a dista-nce Of 172.55' to a point; thence <br /> <br /> <br />
