119 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE REVEREND BEN A. BEAM_ER, SR. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Reverend Ben A. Beamer, Sr. was installed <br />as the ninth pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church on January <br />19, 1975; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ in addition to providing spiritual leadership <br />and guidance to the congregation, ~he has ~ndertaken a leader- <br />ship role to assure the revitalization of the Church's <br />physical structures in the construction of parking lots, <br />internal improvements and landscaping; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, these improvements have improved 'the physical <br />appearance of the Church structure and established it as a <br />major asset to the redevel.opment-and modernization of the <br />downtown area of Portsmouth; and <br /> <br /> WHARF, S, the quality of leadership exemplified by Rev- <br />erend Beamer, his 10 years as Pastor of ,Ebenezer Baptist <br />Church, ann hi, s 30 years in the ministry, will be recognized <br />by Ebenezer Baptist Church by a series of Special Services <br />on November 18th, t9th and 20th; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Reverend Ben A. Beamer, Sr. has given generously <br />of his time and energy in-the interest of his congregants and <br />the citizens of this City whose interest he held paramount at <br />all times. <br /> <br /> N0~, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED ~hat ~he CityCouncil of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia~ recognizes and commends <br />Reverend Ben A. Beamer, Sr..for his dedicated service to Ebenezer <br />Baptist Church and wishes him continued success in the future. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTRER ~RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be <br />spread upon the Minutes of the City Council, and further that <br />a copy be presented to the Reverend Ben A.
