<br />A RESOLUTION IAV~ITI~G BIDS FOR ~ FRANCHISE ~0 USE THE STREETS
<br />DJFD OTHERPUBLIC PLACES OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA,
<br />FOR POLES, WIRES, CONDUITS, CABLES AND FIXTURES, NECESSARY
<br />FOR THE OPERATION OF A TELEPHONE SYSTEM.

<br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia, that the annexed ordinance, entitled "AN ORDINANCE
<br />GRANTING A FRANCHISE TO
<br />ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, TO USE THE STREETS AND OTHER PUBLIC
<br />PLACES OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, FOR ITS POLES, WIRES,
<br />CONDUITS, CABLES AND FIXTURES," be advertised once a week for
<br />four successive weeks in the Virginian Pilot, Currents Section,
<br />a newspaper having a general circulation in the City of Ports-
<br />mouth, Virginia; and that said advertisement shall invite bids
<br />for the franchise proposed Go be granted in said ordina/~ce,
<br />which bids are to be in writing and delivered to the presiding
<br />officer of the City Council in open session, to be held in the
<br />Council Chamber, 6th Floor, City Hall Building, on the llth day
<br />of December, 1984, at 7:00 O'Clock P. M., the right being
<br />reserved to reject any and all bids.

<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the invitation for bids to be
<br />published with said ordinance shall be as follows:
<br />
<br /> City of Portsmouth, Virginia, hereby invites bids for the
<br />franchise proposed to be granted to use the streets and other
<br />public places of the City or-Portsmouth, Virginia, for poles,
<br />wires, conduits, cables and fixtures necessary for the operation
<br />of a telephone system in accordance with the terms of an ordinance
<br />annexed to a resolution adopted by the Council of the City of
<br />Portsmouth on the 13th daM of November, t984. A copy of the
<br />full text of the ordinance is on file in the office of the
<br />City Clerk, 6th Floor, City Hall Building, Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia. The bids are to be in writing and delivered to the
<br />presiding officer of the City Council in open session to be
<br />held in the Council Chamber, 6th Floor, C%ty Hall Building,
<br />Portsmouth, Virginia, on the tlth day of December, 1984, at
<br />7:00 O'Clock P. M., the right being reserved to reject any
<br />and all bids.

<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the successful bidder shall pay
<br />the cost of advertising the franchise.
