AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND'THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, -1973, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING CHAPTER-23 THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING.TO MOTOR VEHICLES. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Chapter,~23 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, <br />~ir~inia, 1973, be amended and reordained to substitute <br />therein the terms "driver" or. "driver's" as applicable, for <br />the terms "chauffeur", "chauffeur's" "operator" or "operator's" <br />in.all sections thereof, with the exception of Section 23-1. <br /> <br /> 2. That Section 23-1 of Chapter 23 of the Code of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended and reordained <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 23-1. Definitions. <br /> <br /> (a) The words and phrases used in this Chapter shall, <br />for the purposes of this Chapter, have the meanings respectively <br />ascribed to them in Section 46.1-1 Of Chaptsr 1 of Title <br />46.1 Qf the Code of Virginia., 1950, as amended and effective <br />January 1, 1985, except in those instances where the context <br />clearly indicates a different meaning. <br /> <br /> (b) The te~ms "chauffeur's license" and "operator's <br />license", as ~sed wi~htn.,thi:s Chapter, shall mean any license, <br />issued under the laws of the Commonwealth authorizing the <br />operation of a motor ~ehi:cle. ' <br /> <br /> 3.
