eighteen ~(18) years, shaltbe paid such allowanceuntil' such <br />child or children die or attain the~.age of ei~k~n (lB) years, <br />Whichever shall first occur~ If ~ore than one child survives <br />the deceased member, the allowance Shall be divided a~ong them <br />in such manner as the board may determine, tf the deceased <br />member leaves neither widow nor child or children und~er the <br />age of eighteen (18) years, then such allowance shall be paid <br />to his parent or parents wholly dependent upon him for support, <br />divided in such manner as the board may determine, during the <br />life or lives of such parent or parents; provided, however, <br />that the a~aount of any allowance payable under this subsection <br />shall be reduced by the amount ef any social security benefits <br />arfsing from coverage of the member under the Federal Social <br />Security Act to which any such widow, child or parent may <br />become entitled under the Federal Social Security Act, in <br />effect at th~ member's death; and provided further, that if <br />the total of the allowances payable under this subsection is <br />less than the amount provided by Section 31-270, the difference <br />between such amount and such total shall be paid together <br />with the last pay~nt due under this subsection to t~he person <br />entitled to receive the last payment. <br /> <br /> (b) tf neither widow, child, children nor wholly dependent <br />parent or parents survive such member, the benefits payable <br />under this section shall be in the same amount and payabTe <br />in the same manner as the benefits payable under Section 31-270. <br /> <br /> ~c) The compensation finally awarded under the Virginia <br />Workmen's Compensation Act fo~ the deathof such me,leer <br />shall be deducted from the benefit provided for in subsection <br />(a) of this section, and the excess of the benefit, if any, <br />shall be paid to the p~rson or persons specified in that sub- <br />section when the time for whick payments of the compensation <br />finally awarded under that act has elapsed, such person or <br />persons shall thereafter receive the full amount of the <br />benefit payable as provided in that subsection. <br /> <br />Section 31-272. Additional retirement benefits for judges <br /> ~f district courts. <br /> <br /> Every judge of the general district court or of the <br />juv~_ni!e and domestic relations district court of this City who <br />has attained the age of seventy (70) years and has served for <br />not less than ten (10) years as a judge of any one or more <br />of such courts and who retires or is retired from active <br />service pursuant to the provisions of this Article, upon such <br />retirement, shall be paid in addition to any other benefits <br />payable under this Article a supplemental retirement allowance <br />of one thousand two hundred dollars ($1,200.O0) per year. <br />The supplemental retirement allowance provided for ±n this <br />section shall be paid in equal monthly installments. The <br />payments provided here~n shall be paid out of the general <br />fund of the City and nee out of the fund established by <br />this Article.
