this section shall remain in the assets of the retirement <br />system and shall not be considered as employee contributions, <br />any other provisions of this Article to the contrary notwith- <br />standing. <br /> <br />Section 31-242. <br /> <br />Inclusion of service under the Portsmouth <br />Fire and Police Retirement System as creditable <br />service. <br /> <br /> Any person who was formerly a member of the Portsmouth <br />Fire and Police Retirement System shall be granted creditable <br />service for the period he was a member of such syste~n <br />provided he has remained in continuous service with the City <br />and does not withdraw his contributions, if any, to such sys- <br />tem or if he has made such a withdrawal pays into this system <br />the amount of contributions he previously withdrew from <br />such system. <br /> <br />Sections 31-243 - 247. Reserved. <br /> <br />DIVISION 5. Contributions <br /> <br />Section 31-248. By members. <br /> <br /> No contributions shall be made by or required of members <br />of the system. Contributions by a member made prior to July <br />t, 1967, shall be retained in the assets of the system until ~the <br />member ceases to be an employee. <br /> <br />Section 31-249. By employer. <br /> <br /> (a) The employer shall contribute annually an amount <br />equal to the sumlof the "normal contribution," the "accrued <br />liability contribution" and the "suppler~entary contribu- <br />tion'', if any. The normal contribution, the accrued liability <br />contribution and ~he supplementary contribution for any <br />year shall be determined as percentages of the creditable <br />compensation of bhe members for such year, such percent- <br />ages being referred to, respectively, as the normal <br />contribution rater the accrued liability contribution rate, and <br />the supplementary contribution rate. <br /> <br /> (b) The normal contribution rate shall be determined as <br />the percentage of the total annual creditable compensation of <br />the members that Ks represented by the annual normal cost re- <br />quired to provide the benefits of the system, other than any <br />future ad3~stments as provided for in Section 31-268, computed <br />in accordance wit~ the recognized actuarial principals on the <br />basis of methods and assumptions approved by the board. <br /> <br />15 <br /> <br /> <br />
