AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA} 1973, BY AMENDING SECTION 40-120 (b) AND (e) PERTAINING TO THE DOWNTOWN D-1 DISTRICT DESIGN COMMITTEE. 1. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia that 940-120 (b) and (e) of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended to read as follows: Section 40-120. Downtown D-1 District Design Committee. (b) The Committee shall consist of seven (7) members to De appointed by City Council for a term of three (3) years from the date of such appointment. Of members appointed, one (1) shall be appointed from at least three (3) nominees made by the Portsmouth Downtown Merchants' Association, one (1) shall be appointed from a~ least three (3) nominees made by the Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce, one (1) shall be a citizen resident in the district and four (4) shall be residents of the City and chosen to provide professional expertise as architects, design professionals, real estate professionals or historians. Members of the Committee shall serve without compensation. (e) The Committee shall appoint a chairman and vice-chairman from among its members and a secretary who shall be an employee of the City Planning Commission. 2. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the members of the Committee initially appointed subsequent to the adoption of this ordinance shall be appointed for a term to expire on February 1, 1990, and at the expiration of such term, their successors shall be:appointed for terms of three (3) years. 3.
