AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF KING STREET. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by ordinance adopted by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, on November 23, 1976, that portion <br />of King Street between Crawford Street and Water Street was <br />closed and vacated as a public street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, subsequent to the adoption of said ordinance <br />plats were recorded in Map Book 10, page 34 and Map Book 12, <br />page 91 in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, purporting to rededicate <br />portions of said street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said street is to be used in conjunction with <br />adjacent property for development of a public parking garage; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has made application to <br />vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter-described <br />portion of King Street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by resolution of this Council adopted September <br />23, 1986, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section <br />15.1-364, Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the <br />hereinafter-described portion of said street and to report in <br />writing whether in their opinion any, and if any what, <br />inconvenience would result from discontinuing said street; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said viewers have ~epo~ted in writing that <br />in their opinion no inconvenience would result from closing <br />and discontinuing said street. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the ordinance adopted by <br />this Council on November 23, 1976, be, and the same hereby <br />is, reconfirmed, that the hereinafter-described portion of <br />King Street be closed and vacated as a public street. <br /> <br />King Street <br /> <br /> Beginning at a point in the northwest <br />corner of King Street and Water Street <br />intersection said point being 204.00' south <br />from the southwest corner of High Street and <br />Water Street intersection and also being the <br />True Point of Beginning; thence south 03° 27' <br />50" east 50.00' to a point at the north face <br />of a concrete retaining wall; thence south 86° <br />26' 14" west 216.48' along the north face of <br />the said wall to a point in the right-of-way <br /> <br /> <br />
