AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 17-16; 17-17; 17-18; 17-19; 17-23; 17-31; 17-32; AND 17-33 THEREOF PERTAINING TO THE HOUSING CODE. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That Sections 17-16; 17-7; 17-18; 17-19; 17-23; 17-31; 17-32; and 17-33 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, be amended and reordained to read as follows: Section 17-16. Code adopted; availability of copies. (a) There is hereby adopted by the City for the purpose of establishing rules and regulations for the occupancy of residential structures, that certain code known as the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code Volume II, the building maintenance code, and the accumulative supplements to the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code Volume II, and the amendments thereto, save and accept such portions as are hereinafter amended or deleted, as permitted in the enabling legislation, and the same are hereby adopted and referred to herein as the Housing Code of the City as fully as if set out at length herein and the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the corporate limits of the City. (b)- Copy of the aforementioned Housing Code may be obtained at the Department of Housing Services and Community Development, 801 Crawford Street, Portsmouth, Virginia, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Section 17-17. Conflicts between the Housing Code and ordinances. In the event that there is any conflict between any provision of the Housing Code adopted in this article and any other ordinance of this City, the more stringent provisions shall be construed to control. Section 17-18. Housing Code amended. The Housing Code adopted in this Article is hereby amended by the following: (a) Section ES-302.1.1 dealing with street numbers is · hereby deleted.
