~'~.~ ~ 1986-54 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 40 OF THE' CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING §40-17 AND §40-288 THEREOF, AND ADDING THERETO §40-85 AND ~40-142 PERTAINING TO THE COMMERCE PARK (CP) DISTRICT, AND PURPOSE AND DIMENSION REQUIREMENTS THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That ~40-17 of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended by adding a new zoning district designated as Commerce Park District (CP) to read as fellows: Section 40-17. Districts and Purposes. In order to implement the intent of this chapter, the City is hereby divided into twenty-one (21) classes of districts with the designations and general purposes listed below and the specifically allowed and permitted uses set forth in Article IV, Article V and Article V.1. DISTRICT PURPOSE Commerce Park District (CP) Primarily for office, office warehouse and research and develop- ment facilities in a controlled park-like setting. 2. That Chapter 40 of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, ~40-84, such new section to the Code of the City of be amended by adding thereto read as follows: Section 40-84. Commerce Park District (CP). (a) Purpose. The Commerce CP District is intended to be a well planned and tightly controlled environment for the development of office, office warehouse, light manufacturing, and research and development facilities. Ample open space, high quality landscaping, long lasting exterior finishes, and attractive, dignified signage Iill be ensured. (b) Permitted uses. Within the Commerce Park CP ist~ict, the following uses are permitted:
