127 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF VIRGINIA TO <br />AMEND THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 15.1-835, Code of Virginia, 1950, as <br />amended, provides for the amendment of the City Charter upon <br />the holding of a public hearing to determine if the citizens <br />of the City desire that the amendment to the City Charter be <br />granted, and by forwarding thereafter a request to one or more <br />members of the General Assembly representing the City to <br />introduce the proposed change as a bill in the succeeding <br />session of the General Assembly; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that certain <br />amendments to the Charter of the City of Portsmouth are <br />necessary and desirable at this time and has, on this date, <br />held such public hearing required by law to consider such <br />amendments. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Attorney De, and he <br />hereby is, directed to prepare and transmit to the members of <br />the General Assembly representing the City, together with <br />certified copies of this resolution, a draft of a bill to <br />amend the Charter of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1970, <br />as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. By repealing Section 6.05 pertaining to the Clerk of <br />the Circuit Court of the City of Pcrtsmouth. <br /> <br /> 2.
