81 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING TUESDAY AUGUST 12, 1986 AS <br />"NATIONAL NIGHT OUT" IN PORTSMOUTH AND CALLING UPON THE <br />CITIZENS OF THIS CITY TO SUPPORT AND PARTICIPATE IN THE <br />"NATIONAL NIGHT OUT" PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the National Town Watch Association is <br />sponsoring a coast-to-coast community crime prevention <br />project on the evening of August 12, 1986 called <br />"National Night Out"; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is important that all Citizens in <br />Portsmouth be aware of the importance of crime <br />prevention programs and the positive impact that their <br />participation can have on reducing crime in our <br />neighborhoods; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, "National Night Out" provides an <br />opportunity for Portsmouth to join together with <br />hundreds of other communities across the country <br />a cooperative crime prevention effort; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, neighborhood spirit and cooperation is the <br />theme of the "National Night Out" project and is also <br />the key ingredient in helping the Portsmouth Police <br />Department to fight crime. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of <br />the City of Portsmouth does hereby call upon the <br />citizens of t~is City_~o~join~he Portsmouth ~Police.and <br />the Nati-onaliTown~W~t~ss~ation i~suppo~-ting arrd <br />participating in the "National Night Out" on August <br />t2th, i986. <br /> <br /> ~ ~B~_~FUt~LT~E~O2ESOL~EDcthat 'this Councitdoes <br />heTeby~desi~na~eTTuesd~,~August,, . ~ 12, 1986 as ~Nation~l <br />Night Out in Portsmouth, Virginia. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held Augus~ 12, 1986. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
