(a) <br /> <br />An employee who previously has~een authorized to <br />recemve an allowance of $500.06 per year prior ~o <br />the termination of the educational allowance program, <br />shall continue to receive this allowance. Any <br />employee not receiving this allowance prior to the <br />effective date of this ordinance shall not be eligible <br />for this compensation. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />The City Manager is authorized to approve automobile <br />and general expense allowances for specified employees <br />provided such allowances are established in writing by <br />the City Manager. <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />Radio communications employees who are required ~o be <br />available for 24 hour emergency repairs to the City's <br />Radio Communicatm~ns system shall receive an allowance <br />of 590.00 per month. <br /> <br />SECTION 6. New Employees <br /> <br />Ail new employees are probationary for one year and shall <br />receive compensation according to the Classification in <br />which they are placed. No employee may remain in a proba- <br />tionary status for more than one year. Upon completion of <br />one year of service, and the required Performance Evalua- <br />tions, the employee will be removed from probationary <br />szatus or termmnated. <br /> <br />No employee shall be hired at a rate above the "A" step of <br />the classification or placed in a transitional step without <br />the written approval of the City Manager or his designee. <br /> <br />SECTION 7. Promotions <br /> <br />When an employee is promoted to a classification one grade <br />higher than the present classification, the employee will <br />receive an increase equivalent To one step. If the Fromotion <br />is two or more gKades above the former classification, the <br />employee will receive an increase equivalent to two steps; <br />however, in no case will an employee's base salary be less <br />than the minimum nor more than the maximum for the grade to <br />which promoted. The City Manager may authorize variations <br />in the application of this section. <br /> <br />SECTION 8. Demotions <br /> <br />Employees who are demoted to a lower grade shall receive <br />compensation according to the grade and ste~ in which they <br />are placed by the Department Head, Director of Personnel and <br />approved by the Office of the City Manager. If an employee <br />· s demoted to a position one grade below the present classi~ <br />fication, the employee will receive a decrease equivalent to <br />one step. If the demotion is two or more grades below the <br />current classification, the employee will receive a decrease <br />equivalent to two steFs; however, in no case will an employee <br /> <br /> <br />
