AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A OF DOUGLAS AVENUE. PORTION OF AN ALLEY ON THE WEST SIDE WHEREAS, Thomas A. Edwards has made application to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter-described portion of a certain alley on the west side of Douglas Avenue; and WHEREAS, by resolution adopted by this Council on February 10, 1987, viewers was appointed pursuant to ~t5.1-364, Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter-described portion of said alley and to report in writing whether in their opinion any, and if any, what inconvenience would result from closing the hereinafter-described portion of said alley; and WHEREAS, said viewers have reported in writing their opinion no inconvenience would result from the closing and discontinuing of said alley. that in NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the hereinafter-described portion of a certain alley on the west side of Douglas Avenue be closed and vacated as-a oublic alley. 12' Alley West Side of Douglas Avenue Beginning at a point at the southwest corner of Lot ~189, Plat of Port Norfolk, as shown on that certain plat recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Ghesapeake, Virginia, ~n Map Book 4, page 70-71, which said lot 3oins a certain 12' alley extending from Douglas Avenue, and from that point of beginning, easterly along the northern side of said alley, at the rear lot lines of Lots =189 and ~188, a distance of 80 feet to the southeast corner of Lot ~188 where it joins said alley; thence in a southerly direction on the same course as that lot line dividing Lot ~i88 from Lot ~187, a distance of 12 feet to a point on the south side of said alley; thence westerly along the south side of said alley a distance of 80 feet to a point; thence in a northerly direction on the same course as that lot line dividing Lot ~189 from Lot ~190, a distance of 12 feet to the Point of Beginning.
