1987-94 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE CLOSING PORTIONS OF MARYLAND AVENUE AND <br />CHAUTAUQUA AVENUE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission <br />has made application to vacate, close and discontinue the <br />hereinafter-described portions of Maryland Avenue and <br />Chautauqua Avenue; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by resolution of this Council adopted September <br />22, 1987, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-364, <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the <br />hereinafter-described portion of said streets and to report in <br />writing whether in their opinion any, and if any what, <br />inconvenience would result from discontinuing said street; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing <br />in their opinion no inconvenience would result from the <br />closing and discontinuing of said streets. <br /> <br />that <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the hereinafter-described <br />portions of Maryland Avenue and Chautauqua Avenue be closed <br />and vacated as public streets. <br /> <br />Maryland Avenue <br /> <br /> That portion of Maryland Avenue beginning <br />at the northern line of Lots 1885 and 1964 as <br />shown on the plat of Port Norfolk Land <br />Company, recorded in the Clerk's Office of the <br />Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake, <br />Virginia, in Map Book 4, pages 70 and 71, <br />which said point is apDroximately 259 feet <br />north of the northern side of Commerce Street <br />and continuing in a northerly direction to the <br />north side of Hartford Street. <br /> <br />Chautauqua Avenue <br /> <br /> The western 10 feet of Chautauqua Avenue <br />beginning at the northern line of Commerce <br />Street and extending in a northern direction <br />1,166.80 feet to the southern line of the <br />property now or formerly belonging to Seaboard <br />Coastline Railroad. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the City of Portsmouth hereby <br />reserves unto itself a perpetual easement, privilege and <br />right-of-way to install, operate, and replace water mains and <br />lines and electric power lines over, under and across the <br /> <br /> <br />
