AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF BALLARD AVENUE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has made application to <br />vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter described <br />portion of Ballard Avenue; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by resolution of this Council adopted Februarv <br />9, 1988, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-364, <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter <br />described portion of said street and to report in writing <br />whether in their opinion any, and if any what, inconvenience <br />would result from discontinuing said portion of Ballard <br />Avenue; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing that <br />in their opinion no inconvenience would result from closing <br />and discontinuing of said street. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the hereinafter described <br />portion of Ballard Avenue be closed and vacated as a public <br />street. <br /> <br />Ballard Avenue <br /> <br />Parcel 1 <br /> <br /> That portion of Ballard Avenue shown as <br />Seaboard Avenue and being 30' in width on the <br />Plat of WashinGton Heights, duly recorded in <br />the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of <br />Chesapeake in MaD Book 19 at page 90. <br />Beginning on the east side of L~igh Road ~' <br />(formerly Grogan Avenue) thence east 340 feet <br />more or less to the eastern boundary of the <br />aforementioned plat. <br /> <br />Parcel 2 <br /> <br /> That portion of Ballard Avenue shown on <br />the above-referenced plat beginning on the <br />west side of Laigh Road (formerly Grogan <br />Avenue) thence west 477 feet more or less to <br />the western boundary of the aforementioned <br />plat. <br /> <br /> <br />
