1988-19 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORT~MOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTION 6-1 (a) AND <br />SECTION 12-18 THEREOF, PERTAINING TO BUILDINGS AND FIRE <br />PREVENTION, RESPECTIVELY. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> 1. That Section 6-1 (a) of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended and reordained to read <br />as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 6-1. Code Adopted. <br /> (a) There is hereby adopted by nhe City for the purpose <br /> of establishing rules and regulations for the ccnsnruction, <br /> alteration, repair, removal, demolition, equipment, use and <br /> occupancy of buildings and structures, including permits and <br /> penalties, that cerEain code known as the "Virginia Uniform <br /> Statewide BuLlding Code volume I", the Building Cons,truction <br /> Code, and the Accumulative Supplements to the "Virg&~ia <br /> Uniform Statewide Building Code Volume I", and the amendments <br /> thereto, ~ave and except such portions as are hereinafter <br /> amended o~ deleted, as permitted in the enabling Legislation, <br /> and the same are, hereby adopted and referred to herein as Ehe <br /> Building Code of the City as fully as if see out at length <br /> herein, and the provisions thereof shall be controlling within <br /> the corporate limits of the City. <br /> 2. That Section 12-18 of the Code of the City of <br /> Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended and reordained to read <br /> as fo. llows: <br /> <br /> Section 12-18. Code - Adopned. <br /> There is hereby adopted by the City for the purpose of <br /> establishing rules and uegulanions for the protection of life <br /> and property from hazards of fire or explosion, that certain <br /> Code known as the "Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code", <br /> and the amendments thereto, save and except for such portions <br /> as are hereinafter amended or deleted, as permitted in the <br /> enabling legislation, and the same are hereby adopted and <br /> referred to herein as the Fire Prevention Code of the City, as <br /> fully as if sen out at length herein, and the provisions <br /> nheueof shall be controlling within the corporate limits of <br /> ~he City. <br /> <br /> <br />
