A~ ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 23-470.1 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, AS AMENDED, PERTAINING TO MOTOR <br />VEHICLES. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of <br />Virginia: <br /> <br />the City of Portsmouth, <br /> <br />1. That Section 23-470.1 be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 23-470.1. Tax on vehicles not displaying current <br /> license plates. <br /> <br /> The annual license tax for motor vehicles not displaying <br />current license plates shall be One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). <br />This tax shall not apply to those individuals exempted from <br />the requirements Of displaying such license plates under the <br />provisions of Section 46.1-42 through 46.1-49, 46.1-119 and <br />46.1-120, Code of Virginia, 1950, and to those motor vehicles <br />in a public dump, in an "automobile graveyard" as defined in <br />Section 33.1-348, Code of Virginia, 1950, or in the possession <br />of a licensed junk dealer or licensed motor vehicle dealer. <br />This tax shall, in addition, not apply to any vehicle which is <br />stored on private property for a period not in excess of sixty <br />days for the purpose of removing parts for the repair of <br />another vehicle. This tax shall also not apply to any vehicle <br />being held or stored by or at the direction of any <br />governmental authority, to any vehicle owned by a member of <br />the armed forces on active duty, or to any vehicle regularly <br />stored within a structure. <br /> <br /> 2.
