officer with the department of state police, or with a <br />sheriff or police department, bureau or force of any <br />political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, after <br />completing twenty (20) years service or after reaching age <br />fifty-five (55). The order issuing such permit shall be <br />entered in the law order book of the court. <br /> <br /> Any person denied a permit to carry a concealed weapon <br />under the provisions of this subsection may, within thirty <br />days of the final decision, present a petition for review to <br />the Court of Appeals or any judge thereof. The petition <br />shall be accompanied by a copy of the original papers filed <br />in the Circuit Court, including a copy of the order of the <br />Circuit Court denying the permit. Subject to the provisions <br />of ~t7-116.07 B, of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, <br />the decision of the Court of Appeals or judge shall be final. <br /> <br />(f) Definitions. When used in the section: <br /> <br /> (II "Brass knuckles:" A set of metal finger rings or <br />guards attached to a transverse piece and worn over the front <br />of the doubled fist for use as a weapon. <br /> <br /> (2) "Ballistic knife:" Any knife with a detachable <br />blade that is propelled by a spring-operated mechanism. <br /> <br /> (3) "Bowie knife:" A stout single-edged hunting knife <br />with part of the back edge curved concavely to a point and <br />sharpened. <br /> <br />(4) Dirk:" A long straight-bladed dagger. <br /> <br /> (5) "Hook:" A curved or bent device for catching, <br />holding or pulling. <br /> <br /> (6) "Razor:" A keen-edged instrument for shaving or <br />cutting hair. <br /> <br /> (7). "Switchblade knife:" A pocket knife having the <br />blade spring opera~ed so that pressure on a release catch <br />causes it to fly open. <br /> <br /> (8). "Slingshot:" A cord adapted so as to throw stones <br />or other projectiles through a rapid swinging movement of <br />the arm. <br /> <br /> (9). "Spring stick:" A spring-loaded metal stick <br />activated by pushing a button, which rapidly and forcefully <br />telescopes the weapon to several times its original length. <br /> <br />Section 21-40.
