AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF AVONDALE ROAD. WHEREAS, Calvary Evangelical Baptist Church has made applidatiOn to vacate, close and discontinue tl~e hereinafter desribed portion of Avondale Road; and WHEREAS, by resolution of this Council adopted March 22, 1988, viewers were appointed pursuant ~o Section 15.1-364, Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter described portion of said street and to report in writing whether in their opinion any, and if any what, inconvenience would result from discontinuing said portion of Avondale Road; and WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing that in their opinion no inconvenience would result from closing and discontinuing of said street. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the hereinafter described portion of Avondale Road be closed and vacated as a public street. Ail that certain strip of land, situate in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia and being that portion of Avondale Road as shown on the plat of Victory Park, Section One, duly recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake, in Map Book 35, page 94, as follows, to-wit: Beginning at a point on t~he wester~ side of Avondale Road at the soutKeastern corner of Lot 101 as shown on the Plat of Victory Park, Section One, duly recorded in the Clerk's office of the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake in Map Book 35, page 94 and from thence running along the western side of Avondale Road, S 43° 52' 10" E 241.74 feet to a point; thence in an easterly direction zn a straight line to a point on the eastern side of Avondale Road at the southwestern corner of the property belonging to Calvery Evangelical Baptist Church; and fro~ thence running N 43° 52' 10" W along the eastern side of Avondale Road 266.32 feet to ~he southwestern corner of Lot 107 as shown on the plat of Victory Park, Section One, thence in a westerly direction in a straight line to the southeas5ern corner of Lot 101 as shown on the plat of Victory Park, Section One, the point of beginning.
