A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN ~ EASEMENT <br />AGREEMENT WITH VIRGINIA NATURAL GAS CORPORATION (SUFFOLK GAS <br />CORPORATION) ON PROPERTY ADJACENT TO PITCHKETTLE ROAD IN <br />SUFFOLK. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Virginia Natural Gas Corporation, successor in <br />interest to Suffolk Gas Corporation, has requested the City of <br />Portsmouth to grant an easement on a portion of the Portsmouth <br />watershed proDer~y adjacent to Pitchkettle Road in Suffolk, <br />Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said easement agreement is to provide for <br />existing and future high pressure natural gas service to the <br />area, which service shall be available to the City of <br />Portsmouth for operation of emergency equipment for its water <br />treatment facility; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth deems it <br />to be in the best interest of the City to grant said easement. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he <br />hereby IS, authorized to sign an easement agreement with <br />Virginia Natural Gas Corporation (Suffolk Gas Corporation) for <br />property adjacent to Pitchkettle Road in Suffolk, Virginia, as <br />shown on that certain plat entitled "Suffolk Gas Corporation <br />Plat", dated August 31, 1971. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and <br />hereby is, authorized to sign such documents as may be <br />necessary to carry out the intent of this resolution. <br /> <br />he <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held January 10, 1989. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
