DEFINITIONS ANNIVERSARY DATE CLASS CLASSIFICATION AND PAY PLAN CLASSIFICATION COMPENSATION GENERAL INCREASE GRADE INGRADE PROGRESSION PAY SCHEDULE SALARY RANGE STEP RE- CLASSIFICATION UPGRADE/ DOWNGRADE The day of the year on which an employee commenced regular full-time employment with the city. A group of positions which are suff{ciently alike in duties and responsibilities that they are described by the same title and assigned the same grade and pay range. An Ordinance adopted by the City Council on an annual basis that sets forth: 1. Regulations for Administration 2. Classes of Positions Assigned to Pay Grades 3. Pay Schedule The process of identifying and analyzing all documentation, With regard to the frequency and complexity of occuring duties and spread of other classes, thereby dgtermlnlng the Grade and Salary level of a position. Pay received for work performed. A salary increase granted by the City Council which affects all employees assigned to the Classifica- tion & Pay Plan. The number assigned to a particular Class which relates to the salary range in the Pay Schedule. The movement from one Step to a higher Step in the salary range within any particular grade. A ~isting in numerical order of Grades from top to bottom, and corresponding alphabetical letters from left to right that indicate all salary ranges as assigned to classes. The length of salary changes by Step, from entry (Step A)through the last longevity step (L2). The alphabetical letters of the Pay Schedule that corresponds to salary figures within a range.
