AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1988, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTION 37-132 <br />PERTAINING TO TAXI CAB FARES. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />follows: <br /> <br />37-132 of the Code of the City of <br />1988~ as amended, be amended to read as <br /> <br />Section 37-132. Rates established. <br /> <br /> No person owning, operating, driving or controlling a <br />taxicab within the limits of the City shall charge an amount <br />to exceed the following rates of fare: <br /> <br />(1) For the .first one-sixth mile <br /> or fraction thereof $1.85 <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />For each one-sixth mile or <br />fraction thereof ~n addition <br />first one-sixth <br /> <br />to the <br /> <br />.20 <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />For each piece of baggage other <br />than one (1) handbag per pas- <br />senger <br /> <br />0.25 <br /> <br />(4) <br /> <br />For each package unless pas- <br />senger transports paqkage to <br />and from cabs and holds pack- <br />age on lap in transit <br /> <br />0.10 <br /> <br />(5) For each ~ootlocker or trunk. 0.50 <br /> <br />(6) For each one (1) minute of wait- <br /> ing time or fraction thereof. 0.15 <br /> <br />(7) <br /> <br />If hired on an hoorly basis, <br />the rate of nine dollars ($9.00) <br />per hour or fraction thereof <br />shall apply. <br /> <br />(8) <br /> <br />Taxicabs licensed in another <br />city or county bringing passen- <br />gers into the city from with- <br />out or picking up passengers <br />in the city and delivering such <br />passengers to the city wherein <br />such taxicab is duly li'censed, <br /> <br /> <br />
