AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF LAIGH ROAD. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing <br />Authority has made application to vacate, close and <br />discontinue the hereinafter described portion of Laigh Road; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by resolution of this Council adopted June 26, <br />1990, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-364, <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter <br />described portion of said street and to report in writing <br />whether in their opinion any, and if any what, inconvenience <br />would result from discontinuing said portion of Laigh Road; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in <br />in their opinion no Inconvenience would result <br />and discontinuing of said street. <br /> <br />writing that <br />from closing <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the hereinafter described <br />portion of Laigh Road be closed and vacated as a public <br />street. <br /> Laigh Road <br /> <br /> Beginning at the intersection of the Southeast' <br />right-of-way line of Laigh Road with the Southwest <br />right-of-way line of The Seaboard Coastline <br />Railroad; thence West along the Southwest <br />right-of-way line of the Seaboard Coastline <br />Railroad, a distance 50' to the Northwest <br />right-of-way line of Laigh Road; thence North <br />along the Northwest right-of-way line of Laigh <br />Road; a distance 70' to a point; thence along a <br />curve to the left, having a radius of 20', a <br />distance of 31.42' to a Doint; thence along a <br />curve to the left, having a radius of 70', a <br />distance of 109.96' to a point; thence South <br />along the Southeast right-of-way line of <br />Laigh Road a distance of 160.14' to the point <br />of beginning. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the City of Portsmouth hereby <br />reserves unto itself a perpetual easement, right and privilege <br />to install, maintain, operate, and replace gas mains, sewer <br />mains, sewer drains, sanitary sewers, storm drains, water <br />mains, and telephone wires and electric power lines within, <br />over, under and across the hereinabove described portion of <br />Laigh Road. <br /> <br /> <br />
