AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF LAIGH ROAD. WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority has made application to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter described portion of Laigh Road; and WHEREAS, by resolution of this Council adopted June 26, 1990, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-364, Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter described portion of said street and to report in writing whether in their opinion any, and if any what, inconvenience would result from discontinuing said portion of Laigh Road; and WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in in their opinion no Inconvenience would result and discontinuing of said street. writing that from closing NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the hereinafter described portion of Laigh Road be closed and vacated as a public street. Laigh Road Beginning at the intersection of the Southeast' right-of-way line of Laigh Road with the Southwest right-of-way line of The Seaboard Coastline Railroad; thence West along the Southwest right-of-way line of the Seaboard Coastline Railroad, a distance 50' to the Northwest right-of-way line of Laigh Road; thence North along the Northwest right-of-way line of Laigh Road; a distance 70' to a point; thence along a curve to the left, having a radius of 20', a distance of 31.42' to a Doint; thence along a curve to the left, having a radius of 70', a distance of 109.96' to a point; thence South along the Southeast right-of-way line of Laigh Road a distance of 160.14' to the point of beginning. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the City of Portsmouth hereby reserves unto itself a perpetual easement, right and privilege to install, maintain, operate, and replace gas mains, sewer mains, sewer drains, sanitary sewers, storm drains, water mains, and telephone wires and electric power lines within, over, under and across the hereinabove described portion of Laigh Road.
