Ail trees shall be balled and <br />burlapped or container-grown. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Ail trees shall be installed in accordance with the <br />most recent edition of the road and bridge <br />specifications of the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation and as further described in the most <br />recent edition of the "Landscape Planting and <br />Protection Manual, Portsmouth, Virginia". <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />The owner of the property shall be responsible for <br />the continued proper maintenance of all trees on <br />located on the property. Where trees are installed <br />in accordance with Section 36-52(1), it shall be the <br />responsibility of the owner of the lot to maintain <br />the trees. The trees must be maintained, alive, for <br />a period of one year. If any of the trees dies <br />during the first year after planting, it must be <br />replaced by the owner. <br /> <br /> (10) Trees to be retained on the lot in accordance with <br />the approved landscape plan shall be protected utilizing <br />methods in the mos= recent edition of "Landscape Planting and <br />Protection Manual, Portsmouth, Virginia". <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Trees or tree areas that are to be retained shall <br />be marked visibly in the field prior to clearing or <br />construction by use of one of the methods specified <br />in the "Landscape Planting and Protection Manual, <br />Portsmouth, Virginia" <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Protection devices shall be installed prior to <br />clearing or construction and shall be shown on the <br />submitted landscape plan. Such devices shall be <br />evident and effective and shall be maintained at all <br />times. Failur~to maintain such devices shall be <br />cause for the issuance of a stop work order. <br />Construction personnel shall be notified of the <br />purpose and presence of the protection devices. <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />If it becomes necessary subsequent to clearing to <br />remove additional trees which were shown on the <br />approved plan to be retained, such trees may be <br />removed if compliance with the required canopy <br />coverage and all other requirements of this chapter <br />are maintained and a revised landscape plan is <br />approved. <br /> <br /> <br />
