A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE OFFER OF JOHN D. HARRISON AND <br />BENJAMIN HARRISON TO PURCHASE A 15 FOOT STRIP OF CITY OWNED <br />PROPERTY ON DOUGLAS AVENUE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br />CONVEY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City owns certain hereinafter-described real <br />property located on Douglas Avenue; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said property is no longer required for public <br />purposes and is, hereby, declared to be excess property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the property has been advertised for sale <br />pursuant to the terms of Sectio~ 2.09 of the Charter of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, John D. Harrison and Benjamin Harrison have <br />submitted a bid of $402.00 for purchase of the property to be <br />used in connection with development of adjacent property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best <br />interest of the City to sell said property. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the bid of John D. Harrison and <br />Benjamin Harrison to purchase the hereinafter-described real <br />property for the sum of $402.00 be, and the same hereby is, <br />accepted. Said property being described as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br /> Beqinning at a point where the western line of <br />Douglas Avenue is intersected by the southern line <br />of the right-of-way of the Atlantic Coast Line, and <br />running thence S 54° 27' W one hundred and <br />seventy-two (172) feet to the east side of a lane <br />fifteen (15) feet wide, between this property and <br />the property next hereinafter described; thence S <br />0° .03' E, seventeen and two-tenths (17.2) feet; <br />thence N 54° 27' E one hundred and seventy-two <br />(172) feet to the western line of Douglas Avenue; <br />thence N 0° .03' W seventeen and two-tenths (17.2) <br />feet along the western line cf Douglas Avenue to <br />the point of beginning. <br /> <br /> Beginning on the southern line of said <br />right-of-way of the Atlantic Coast Line, at a point <br />where said right-of-way is intersected by the <br />western line of the lane aforesaid, and being <br />fifteen (15) feet distant from the western line of <br />the property just hereinbefore described; running <br />thence along said right-of-way S 54° 27' W one <br />hundred and seventy-two (172) feet to the eastern <br /> <br /> <br />
