42 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ENDORSING A TREE PLANTING AND INSTALLATION <br />PROJECT AND THE APPLICATION OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH FOR <br />AWARD OF A GRANT FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY <br />ADMINISTERED BY THE U. S. SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION. <br /> <br /> 9~EREAS, the Virginia Department of Forestry is currently <br />accepting proposals for tree installation programs <br />administered by the U. S. Small Business Administration; and <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, the City's Department of Engineering has filed <br />an application for a grant under said Program; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this grant will provide funding for the planting <br />of approximately 100 trees on Cedar Lane, between West Norfolk <br />Road, Churchland High School and Churchland Junior High <br />School, as well as approximately 85 trees at the entrance to <br />the River Pointe complex; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in addition, all of the citizens of~the City <br />will share in the environmental and beautification benefits of <br />this Program upon award of a Program grant. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, hereby endorses this project and <br />the purposes of the U. S. Small Business Administration by <br />supporting the application for funding submitted on behalf of <br />the City of Portsmouth, and agrees to undertake the <br />fulfillment of all of the Grant's requirements should the City <br />receive such award. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and she <br />hereby is, directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to <br />the Virginia Department of Forestry for inclusion as part of <br />the City's Grant Proposal Application under the Program. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held on July 23, 1991. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
