A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH TO THE CHARLES PEETE LITTLE LEAGUE ON <br />WINNING THE DISTRICT SIX MAJOR AND SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR <br />1991. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charles Peete Little League has won the 1991 <br />District Six Major and Senior Championships; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charles Peete Little League was named in <br />recognition of the outstanding baseball ability of Charles <br />Peete who was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team <br />in the 1950's, and has been instrumental in the lives of its <br />players; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charles Peete Little League has a rich <br />baseball history having won the District Six Major <br />Championship in 1974, 1975, 1981, 1982, 1984 and 1991; and the <br />District Six Senior Championship in 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1991; <br />and the District Six Big League Championship in 1985 and 1986; <br />and the District Six Junior Championship in 1990; as well as <br />being State Junior Runner-up in 1990 and State Little League <br />finalist in 1982; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charles Peete Little League team was honored <br />in 1991 by having five of its players and coach selected in <br />the Big League Allstar Team, and by having former player <br />Antonio Boone drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals baseball <br />team; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charles Peete Little League, by its <br />current and past successful athletic achievements as a team, <br />and by the individual achievements of the members of the team <br />and coaches and staff, and all of the persons affiliated with <br />the team, have represented their community and the City of <br />Portsmouth in a commendable manner throughout the Commonwealth <br />of Virginia. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the Council hereby extends its <br />congratulations to the Charles Peete Little League and all who <br />participated in its current and past successes on winning the <br />District Six Major and Senior Championships for 1991 and for <br />their past contributions and success. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held December t0, 1991. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
