47 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE NAME OF RIVERFRONT PARK TO VETERANS <br />RIVERFRONT PARK. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Riverfront Park, at the foot of High Street, in <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, is an important part of our City's proud <br />history and in-its revitalized future; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the residents of our city have distinguished <br />themselves and our city as well as the Commonwealth of <br />Virginia and the United States of America through honorable <br />and patriotic military service; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth wishes to <br />recognize both'this significant portion of land in our city as <br />well as Portsmouth's veterans of military service. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that this Council does hereby change <br />the name of Riverfront Park to Veterans Riverfront Park. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held August 27, 1991. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
