application to the commission of architectural review. A written report shall <br />accompany any such application. The commission of architectural review may issue <br />a certificate of appropriateness. <br /> <br /> The secretary shaH, in writing, report to the commission of architectural review <br />at each regular meeting on all certificates so issued. <br /> <br />The secretary of the commission of architectural review may approve the following <br />items (when colors, materials, types and designs conform with those defined by the <br />commission of architectural review): <br /> <br />(a) Paint colors; <br /> <br />(b) Exterior doors; <br /> <br />(c) Windows; <br /> <br />(d) Fences; <br /> <br />(e) Storm windows and doors; <br /> <br />(f) Vinyl or aluminum siding; <br /> <br />(g) <br /> <br />Roof shingles or roof covering materials provided that there is no change in <br />the design or contour of the roof; <br /> <br />(h) Shutters. <br /> <br /> All exterior work not falling within the above criteria, or using other than <br />approved materials, must be approved by the commission of architectural review. <br /> <br />Sec. 40-53.1. Commi.~sion review. <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />REVIEW. Upon receipt of a complete application for a certificate of <br />appropriateness and the plans and specifications, the commission shall <br />confer with the applicant for the certificate of appropriateness, and shall <br />approve or disapprove such plans and specifications. If the application is <br />approved, the commission shall issue a certificate of appropriateness <br />therefor with cr without conditions, or with such modifications of the plans <br />and specifications as the commission deems necessary to fulfill the purposes <br />and objectives declared in Section 40-51 and to require compliance with the <br />regulations and restrictions set out in this Chapter. If issued, the <br />certificate of appropriateness shall be valid for a period of one year from <br />date of issuance. Otherwise, the commission shall reject such plans and <br />specifications and shall not issue the certificate of appropriateness. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />FAILURE TO ACT. The failure of the commission to approve or disapprove <br />such plans and specifications with or without conditions or <br />modifications, within sixty (60) days from the date of application for the <br />certificate shall be deemed to constitute approval of the plans and <br />specifications as submitted, and the building official shall issue any <br /> <br />77 <br /> <br /> <br />
