(d) The term firearm as used in this Section, and as <br />used in Section 24-68, shall mean any handgun, pistol, <br />shotgun, or rifle which expels a projectile by action of an <br />explosion. <br /> <br /> 2. That Section 24-68 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1988, be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 24-68. Records to be kept by dealers in firearms. <br /> <br /> Ail dealers in firearms shall keep an accurate register <br />of the number and character of firearms purchased or otherwise <br />acquired, the name of the person from whom purchased or- <br />otherwise acquired and the date thereof and shall likewise <br />keep an accurate record of each sale or transfer of such <br />firearm, which shall show the date of sale or transfer, the <br />name of the purchaser or transferee, and the number and <br />character of the firearm. Such records shall be open to the <br />inspection of any police officer of the city, and a copy of <br />the same shall be made and certified by such dealer monthly to <br />the chief of police. <br /> <br /> 3.
