REGULATIONS <br /> <br />FOR ADMINISTRATION <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Employees Classified <br /> <br />On and after July 1, 1991, all employees of <br />shall be classified according to the kind and <br />by them and as provided in this ordinance. <br /> <br />the City of Portsmouth <br />5ype of work perfcrmed <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Classification and Compensation <br /> <br />Ail officers and regular full-time and regular part-time employees <br />of ~he City, except those mentioned in Section 13 of this ordinance, <br />shall be classified and graded in accordance with the CLASSES OF <br />POSITIONS ASSIGNED TO PAY GRADES portion of this ordinance. The <br />compensation of each classified employee shall De determined <br />according to the PAY SCHEDULE portion and other sections of this <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />SECTION 3.~ Salary and Class Specification Administration <br /> <br />(a) The Department of Employee Resources and Development shall <br /> maintain a continuing salary administration program to insure <br /> internal equity among position classifications. The salary <br /> administration program shall include salary surveys, reclassi- <br /> fications, audits, and analyses of turnoveD. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />The Director of Employee Resources and Development shall <br />approve all position reclassifications, additions (new <br />positions), or deletions prior to the action being taken. <br /> <br />If a position reclassification results in an increase of one <br />grade, employees shall receive an increase in compensation <br />equivalent to one step~ ~f the reclassification is two or more <br />grades, employees shall receive an increase in compensation <br />equivalent to two steps. In no case will the employee's base <br />salary be more or less than the grade to which reclassified. <br /> <br />If a position reclassification results in a reduction in the <br />grade of the class, employees in that classification shall <br />retain their current pay rate. <br /> <br />The City Manager may authorize variations in the application of <br />this section. <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br /> <br />
